What are your daily habits?
Ah, this is a fun one for me, as I am habitual by nature! This list is not all encompassing. You would be reading for days if it was! Here are a few of my daily highlights:
- Hot lemon-salt water first thing in the morning to alkalize and kick start digestion.
- Then a shower – last month, I began ending my daily showers with a one minute blast of cold. At first it was difficult to withstand, but I’ve grown to enjoy it! It’s a nice little kick start to my day.
- Two cups of coffee, three on the weekends, with homemade cashew creamer. Yum!
- Breakfast during the week is normally a protein shake (with chia seeds, maca, turmeric, black pepper, and frozen fruit) or a bowl of “quinoa oatmeal”. On the weekends I beg my husband to make me an omelet. 😀
- Work if I’m working. Snack at 10a, lunch at my desk (normally a giant salad), a cup of tea or matcha and a snack at 2p. Water throughout.
- If I’m not working, I’m doing kitchen stuff. Meal prep, kombucha bottling, making hummus, peanut butter, and cashew butter, cutting veggies for easy to grab snacks, filling spices from my bulk purchases, dehydrating fruit, building grocery lists… the list goes on and on.
- After work, it’s exercise time! If it’s a weekend, it’s nap time, then exercise. I am fairly consistent with my weekly workouts: three days a week I lift, one to two days I do a kettlebell-based routine, and one day a week I get in a long(er) run. Shower, if needed.
- Make and eat dinner. I always get family buy-in when planning meals (I find this cuts down on the complaints) and we try to plan meals for the weekdays that are quick(er). Dinner together is the norm and we use this time to discuss “Favorite Part of the Day” and anything else that went on while we were apart.
- Popcorn and an episode of a TV series with the family after dinner. Right now we are working through Supernatural. Fifteen seasons. 327 episodes. We may finish this long-running series before my daughter graduates high school. I’m bored and over this daily habit, but my husband and daughter are invested. So, I embrace and endure. While reading or scrolling. 😀
- Bedtime routines for the kids. These usually involve about 15 minutes of individual talks and snuggles with each kid. I’ve found this is the best time for heart-to-hearts with my teen, and often these will get prolonged as long as he allows. I’m going to miss these days.
- Bedtime routine for me. I wash my face, don my jammies, and drink a hot cup of Calm magnesium while I read in bed until I fall asleep.
- Sleep, rinse, and repeat!
that sounds fabulous! i could never hope to be that healthy and dedicated, but i do keep a fairly rigid routine in many ways. Great structure!
