Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.
Oh Lawd. There are so many great lessons that I wish I’d learned earlier in life. I’m not sure I can choose just one. So I won’t. 😀
In no particular order…
- Life is short. The older you get, the faster it seems to go. Don’t waste it being drunk.
- Stand up for yourself. No one else is going to.
- YOU are the only one in control of your happiness.
- Don’t ever, ever sacrifice your happiness for anyone.
- Learn to love yourself. Treat yourself the way you wish you would’ve been treated growing up or while in that relationship.
- Take chances. If they scare you, even better.
- You are not defined by your past. Sometimes, life is shit. We get thrown into shitty situations with shitty people. You can either crumple into a pile of shit or decide that you will never, ever be shit on again.
- Don’t. Trust. The. Government.
- Travel, as much as possible. There’s a great wide world out there full of amazing experiences and a whole new perspective. Be open. Be willing to learn.
- If you are unhappy with your job, your car, your home, your life – change it! (See #3)
- Before you fill that prescription or agree to that surgery, be sure that your “ailment” can’t be solved with a small change in diet or lifestyle.
- Meditate.
I could jump on a soapbox for any one of these.
