Life Lessons

Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.

Oh Lawd. There are so many great lessons that I wish I’d learned earlier in life. I’m not sure I can choose just one. So I won’t. 😀

In no particular order…

  1. Life is short. The older you get, the faster it seems to go. Don’t waste it being drunk.
  2. Stand up for yourself. No one else is going to.
  3. YOU are the only one in control of your happiness.
  4. Don’t ever, ever sacrifice your happiness for anyone.
  5. Learn to love yourself. Treat yourself the way you wish you would’ve been treated growing up or while in that relationship.
  6. Take chances. If they scare you, even better.
  7. You are not defined by your past. Sometimes, life is shit. We get thrown into shitty situations with shitty people. You can either crumple into a pile of shit or decide that you will never, ever be shit on again.
  8. Don’t. Trust. The. Government.
  9. Travel, as much as possible. There’s a great wide world out there full of amazing experiences and a whole new perspective. Be open. Be willing to learn.
  10. If you are unhappy with your job, your car, your home, your life – change it! (See #3)
  11. Before you fill that prescription or agree to that surgery, be sure that your “ailment” can’t be solved with a small change in diet or lifestyle.
  12. Meditate.

I could jump on a soapbox for any one of these.
