What’s something you would attempt if you were guaranteed not to fail.
Given this Daily Prompt is being answered by the blogging community, I am going to bet 99.99% of responses will be something along the lines of “professional writer” as something they would attempt if guaranteed not to fail.
I am one of those 99.99%.
I would love to quit my day job to write professionallly, especially if I’m guaranteed not to fail. I have so many unfinished stories and book ideas collecting dust on my digital shelf, just waiting for the day that I have the time and energy to make something out of them.
But, to add a little variety…. something I would LOVE to attempt, if guaranteed not to fail, would be to become a Naturopathic doctor and open up a successful practice.
Naturopathic Doctors diagnose, prevent, and treat illnesses (chronic and otherwise) using natural remedies, concentrating on the whole body and root cause, not just a symptom. Naturopathic medicine focuses on diet, exercise, supplements, and the body’s ability to heal itself.
I’ve always been intrigued by the topic and am one to look for the natural way to heal an ailment before seeking medical assistance. I’m not saying that there isn’t a need for traditional medicine, but have you heard those commercials on prescriptions?! It’s almost comical –
Most experienced side effects are headache, backache, loss of appetite, excessive thirst, explosive diarrhea, constipation, manic depression, weight gain, weight loss, nausea, anal leakage, drowsiness, dry mouth, upset stomach, loss of consciousness, difficulty swallowing, rashes, flushing, excessive sweating, change in mood, dizziness, and rapid heartbeat.
I’m not a doctor <yet> and herbal remedies aren’t for everyone, but….
- Did you know blood cholesterol levels can be lowered, without the use of statins, simply by tweaking diet and adding a Red Yeast Rice supplement?
- Did you know that approximately 60% of the American population has a gene mutation which makes it very difficult for the body to naturally detox, contributing to a range of health conditions like cancer and depression? Supplements like N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) and Chlorella and dry brushing can help boost your body’s natural detox efforts.
- Did you know mushrooms are high in Vitamin D, which helps combat fatigue and depression and helps keep your immune system strong? Did you know that chopped mushrooms laid in a window sill for a few minutes will absorb additional Vitamn D from the sun?! (How cool is that?)
- Did you know that a Stinging Nettle and Bromelain (enzyme found in papaya and pineapples) supplement combats seasonal allergies? (I know this one from first hand experience!)
But alas… we are a society that would rather pop a pill than make a lifestyle change. Any future as a Naturopathic Doctor would be a miserable fail due to lack of patients.
I’m with you on writing professionally, as long as failure isn’t an option. Taking that leap without without a parachute is almost paralyzing. I’m gonna use the pineapple tip for the kids allergies.
